P.T. Barnum called Bridgeport, Connecticut, home. His love of the city as his home of choice remains a lasting legacy.
The people who keep his accomplishments (and artifacts from his life) at the Barnum Museum extend an invitation to help celebrate Barnum’s 200th birthday throughout 2010.
A new exhibition, P.T. Barnum: The Man, The Myth, The Legend, will open for P.T. Barnum’s birthday and chronicle the amazing life of the showman.
“From his early days as a young shopkeeper in Bethel, Connecticut, to the glory of his “Greatest Show On Earth,” the exhibition promises to delight and amaze, according to the museum’s invitation. “Fascinating objects from the collection, including pieces that have never been on display, will be featured, and extraordinary stories that have not been explored will engage and astound.”
The museum is on Facebook, where readers can follow as the museum’s 4,000-year-old mummy is examined at Quinnipiac University’s North Haven for tests to learn more about it.
A documentary film is being produced with an Emmy Award-winning producer, and is scheduled to premier in July.
Trivia: Barnum’s Animal Crackers were invented in 1902 by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco).
