Connecticut Trails Day is stepping off Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6, as part of National Trails Day. More than 160 events are scheduled across Connecticut.
Sponsors include a significant grant by Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, and considerable support by Connecticut Light & Power, and Stanley Black & Decker.
The following sponsors were also generous supporters: Crosswicks Family Foundation, Tilcon, WalkCT, Aquarion Water Company, CNC Software, Inc., Horst Engineering, Murtha Cullina, Reid and Riege, P.C., Robinson & Cole, LLP, Connecticut Water, Crawford Investment Counsel, Kaman, Laticrete, Milone & MacBroom, and Union Savings Bank.
Also worth noting, might be that Connecticut Trails Day is part of the larger initiative, National Trails Day, which is sponsored by the American Hiking Society. This is the 18th year that CFPA has been the Connecticut state coordinator.
The (DEP), Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), local and regional land trusts, town agencies, outdoors-oriented businesses, numerous volunteers, and the business sponsors all contribute to the success of the event.
Walks range from mild to strenuous and include history, wildflowers, geology, walks with dogs and more. A complete listing is available online as a PDF. For information, call Connecticut Forest & Park Association at (860) 346-2372 or find out more on their Facebook page.
