Boston Properties Inc. will buy the John Hancock Tower, New England’s tallest building, for $930 million.
The deal is $289.5 million in cash plus assuming more than $640 million in debt.
The current owners of the Hancock Tower in Boston are Normandy Real Estate Partners and Five Mile Capital Partners. The purchase is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The Hancock Tower has about 1.7 million square feet of rentable office space and offices are 80 percent occupied, according to data from CoStar Group Inc., a Bethesda, Maryland-based real estate information service.
Boston Properties owns the Prudential Center, the company’s corporate headquarters.
