Hartford’s going orange on Saturday, Oct. 9.
ING, one of the world’s leading financial services companies and one of the running community’s most committed supporters, has partnered with the Hartford Marathon Foundation to become the title sponsor for the ING Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon. A board of directors manages the growth and operation of this annual event.
The company will draw upon its more than 2,000 Hartford area employees to help staff the race course. ING will also help the Hartford Marathon Foundation unify and expand its existing youth running initiatives, coordinating them under an event during race weekend tied to the ING Run for Something Better, the charitable companion to the company’s running sponsorships which provides funding to local youth running and fitness programs
Races will begin on Capitol Avenue, near the Connecticut State Capitol and State Library.
The 5K will start in this same area but around the corner on Buckingham and Washington streets.
The ING Hartford Marathon, has been recognized by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) for the second year in a row.
As part of its global commitment to the sport of running, ING is also the title sponsor of the ING New York City Marathon, ING Amsterdam Marathon, and ING Brussels Marathon, and continues to look at sponsoring running events.
